Reading Financial Statements — Making sense of balance sheets, profit & loss statements and cashflows.
Cashflow Fundamentals – Budgeting — Practical tools for managing income, expenses and saving with intention.
Debt — Managing debt — good and bad — and using it wisely.
Tax Basics — Why we pay tax, how it works, and your obligations as an employee or a business owner.
Structures — An introduction to individuals, trusts, companies and partnerships, and how each is used.
Investments Overview — An introduction to the core asset classes and how they fit together.
Introduction to Superannuation — How super works, why it matters, and how to make it work for you.
Day Two
Building Blocks of Wealth
Introduction to Equities — The basics of shares, markets and how companies raise capital.
Introduction to Property & Real Estate — Understanding property as an asset class, from ownership through to investment.
Estate Planning — First steps in understanding how wealth is protected and passed on.
Philanthropy — Exploring giving as part of a considered financial life.
The Format
Small group, high engagement, no lectures. The Intensive is delivered alongside a peer group in the same position as you, combining clear teaching with practical, real-world application — so concepts land, rather than just being covered.
By the end of the two days, you’ll have the vocabulary, the confidence and the context to engage meaningfully with your finances, and to step into the broader NGA curriculum on equal footing with your peers.
Availability.
The Financial Literacy Intensive is included for all NGA members — there’s no additional cost, and no obligation to attend. It’s there for members who feel they’d benefit from a stronger foundation before engaging with the deeper curriculum, and entirely optional for those who don’t.
